CURRENT NOTICES:

 REGARDING RECYCLING IN CRAWFORD COUNTY
Due to the rising costs associated with recycling and the drop in the value of recyclable material, the Crawford County Recycling Council has determined it to be potentially more economical for each township/city to determine the course of their own recycling efforts. Each municipality will decide whether or not to continue recycling and whether or not to continue the county recycling surcharge in order to fund the recycling program.
Beginning August 1st, the Grayling Township Recycling Center will accept recyclable material from residents of Grayling Township ONLY. Residents will be required to show their green and white compactor pass to enter and use the compacting/recycling services at the center. The recycling center hours will remain the same.
This policy change impacts recycling ONLY. Trash removal will remain the same in all municipalities (townships/city). Contact your municipality with any questions.

Policy For Campaigning on Township Property/Campaign Signs

Section 57 of the Michigan Campaign Finance Act, MCL 169.257, prohibits the use of township property to expressly advocate voting for or against a candidate or ballot question.
This means that a township cannot allow unattended materials that expressly advocate voting for or against a candidate or ballot question anywhere on township property on any day, except election day. This includes vehicles with campaign signs.
On election day, Michigan Election Law prohibits campaign materials and campaigning within 100 feet of the entrance to any polling place (MCLs 168.744 and 168.931). This Board may direct removal of UNATTENDED campaign signs or other materials from township property outside of the 100-foot limit on election day.
On election day, campaign signs shall be limited to not more than 2 signs for each candidate or ballot issue. Also campaign signs cannot be placed on township property until 6am on election day. An employee running for public office, cannot campaign on township property. Policy adopted 8/18/2015.
